So, I've been up since 4 am today (was too hot to sleep) and I'm facing a major deadline -- article due tonight. It's now 8 pm and, suffice it to say, I'm extremely tired.
Here's a funny story for you moms and mom-sympathizers: After dropping my kids and the nanny off at a play centre this morning, working like a mad-woman, picking the crew up from the play centre, making lunch, working like a mad-woman, and walking to and from the store, I decided to take a much-needed shower. My daughter's sleeping, the nanny's resting and my son has a friend over so I'm all set. I turn on the water, step into the shower, take a deep breath and... next thing I know, the bathroom door is opening. Huh? I peek my head out and it's my son taking the box of Kleenex off the shelf. "What are you doing, buddy?" I ask. "Steph (friend) needs to blow her nose," he answers. Ahhh...whatever. Any modesty I once had is now gone.
Both of my kids made me laugh multiple times today. When Kash woke up this morning, I was already downstairs on the computer (remember - up since 4 am). He comes downstairs and says, "Mommy, I've got to tell you a secret." I'm pleased he wants to share secrets but part of me is slightly concerned it's going to be something serious/painful/weird. Luckily, he comes over and whispers, "I've got a treasure chest under my bed and there's a sticker in it." Phew!
I'm lucky enough to be able to put our almost-two-year-old daughter down for naps every day and usually sing to her prior to nap and bed time. Today, I asked her what song I should sing. Lily says, "The porcupine song." Oh. "How does it go?" I ask. "Porcupine, porcupine, porcupine, porcupine, porcupine, porcupine, porcupine..." she sings. Simple and easy tunes - just the way I like 'em.

hey.. loved your blog.. i can totally relate to what you're saying.. i have NO privacy in the washroom anymore.. kids, doggies.. pushin' through the door at the most inopportune times..RRRR.. i also loved reading about the top ten things new mommies should know.. made me remember some of the stuff i went through with the boys when they were newbies.. ohhh so many moons ago.. the LACK OF SLEEP is such a killer!!

Hey! I know that porcupine song! Except around here it was called Ladybugs. Great post Lisa. I needed a good chuckle today.
