From the Beach to the Classroom
We're back from Wasaga Beach. It was a great week and we were lucky enough to enjoy good weather with moderate temps and no rain. I plan to include a blog post with a summary of our trip as we did a lot of fun and interesting things including: geocashing in a forest, a park, and on a bridge; attending a local outdoor jazz concert; swimming and sandcastle-building in the warm, shallow waters of Georgian Bay; and a trip to the nearby town of Creemore. It really was fun - albeit exhausting with carting the kids around and cooking and cleaning - Lily and Kash seemed to enjoy the cottage and beach experience.
We're quickly shifting gears into fall mode as our son enters SK and French Immersion in a brand new school this Tuesday. My plan to introduce Kash to la langue d'amour this summer sadly went awry even though our neighbours lent us awesome kids' books translated into French and I purchased a few "learn to speak French" CD-ROMs at the book store. Ah well, c'est la vie, n'est pas?!
I'm still in the midst of figuring out a new childcare situation, too: the whole experience is becoming a bit of a soap opera, really, but I'm hoping it will play out in our favor. Luckily, both of our kids seem to be oblivious to this situation. I'm not looking forward to introducing them to a new childcare provider should it come to that. It's taken quite a while to get them comfortable with our current nanny and I'm hoping that if we can somehow manage to make it work with her for another year, Lily will be old enough to go to pre-school and Kash will be in school full days. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Sounds like you had a nice and much deserved vacation, Lisa! Nothing better than the beach and the woods to recharge your batteries...and nothing better than a kid starting school and nanny drama-rama to suck those batteries dry again, I guess. Good luck on the nanny front, good luck to Kash on the school front, and Happy Anniversary to you too!

Hope you get the childcare situation all figured out soon...I know what a worry it can be.
Looking forward to hearing all about your trip to Wasaga!

Mmmm. My cottage trip is just a memory now too. This reality stuff with school and housework and just plain work-work is HARD. The summer went too fast. Glad you had fun though, we were a little over from you on Lake Muskoka.
